About Heritage Place

Heritage Place was established in 1988 as part of the Learning Resources Center located on the campus of Lenoir Community College. It houses a special reserved collection of genealogical and local/state historical materials. Research material focuses primarily on Eastern North Carolina but includes other counties as well as an extensive section of Virgina books and records. Microfilm holdings include all available censuses for North Carolina and through 1850 for Virginia. Old Dobbs County is a special feature of local research.
